We spent last Thursday through Sunday taking care of Phil's sister Lisa's four kids while she and her husband Phil went to California to celebrate their 1oth anniversary. I was a little nervous that I wouldn't be able to keep them entertained since it was so hot outside, but we still had a great time!
I won't bore you all with a play by play, but we had a great time going to the Tempe Splash Park (easily the best one I've ever been to), playing with water out on the trampoline a few times, visiting the park EARLY to beat the heat, playing with more cousins in Litchfield Park, and having an "art show" (I love it when kids get creative!) and some great movie nights.
I was really impressed with how well everyone got along and how well behaved all the children were. It was still a lot of work keeping up with eight kids, but much easier since they were eight great kids. And I have to brag that getting ready for church on Sunday went smoothly and we were even ready early!!! Why can't I ever do that with just four kids?
Anyway, the experience in no way makes us want to be the parents of eight kids all the time =), but we're glad that it all went well and the kids had a great time.

Holy Cow!! You guys are so brave. I'm glad it went so well, you guys thinking eight now??:)
Wow--good job handling all those kids at once! I'm impressed. Sounds like you managed to have a lot of fun as well.
I really love this picture! Thanks so much again!! I don't think that I can say that enough!
Wow!! And look how all eight of them are smiling at the same time! Very cool.
I hope that at least one time you took them out in public and tried to pass them all off as yours. :) Just to see what people would say.
You are so nice to do something like that!
Trust me, I did not want to waist a jar on his "pretty" peaches! I know that sounds mean, but my mother reminded me that she let us do that stuff as kids all the time. She said he would remember and ask later where his was. So I decided I should sacrifice a jar and some of my peaches. He did love it! I do learn my best lessons from my mother!
I'm so glad you have a great picture to commemorate your adventure. :-)
Love,
Mom
wow! How did you transport all of them?? You are kind to let them come stay with you!
Eight kids is alot of kids! I'm glad things went well. I'm sure Lisa and Phil really appreciated it too. What a great Aunt and Uncle.
Wow Stacie! I guess that means you really CAN handle 8 kids...of your own, right? :D I loved the pic of your canned goods too. Don't you almost never want to open the jars, cuz they look so nice, and you worked so hard to get them there? Good job!
