Sunday afternoons...

I love long Sunday afternoons when we don't have anywhere to be. That's when the kids get the games out of the closet. Tyler was completely mesmerized by Connect Four yesterday, as long as Phil or I would sit by him and put in a piece every now and then. His favorite part, not suprisingly, was dumping all the pieces out every minute or two. We were just thrilled that he found something to keep his attention since he only took a 10 minute nap.

Jonathan the Baker

So we've checked out some cute books from the library that Jonathan has loved. The first one we read was Bruno the Tailer, and it gave step by step instructions as Bruno made himself and apron. So when Jonathan's preschool was cancelled last week, Jonathan and I made him and apron just like the book (it's dark green, so it's hard to see in the picture).
Then on Friday, we read Bruno the Baker...so we had to make a cake just like Bruno, too! We also read Bruno the carpenter, but there's no way he's going to convice me to build a toolbox =)

Suzanna lost a tooth!

It's just too bad that the tooth fairy keeps forgetting to bring her some money. That poor forgetful fairy!
Anyway, last Sunday during the Sacrament Suzanna kept wiggling her tooth and it was getting REALLY loose. I made her stop so that we wouldn't make a scene during the Sacrament (not that we weren't already making a scene since Phil was up helping with the Sacrament and Tyler kept trying to escape and go visit his dad). So as soon as it was over she pulled her tooth right out. We left for Thatcher right after church, and forgot the tooth. Then we got back too late on Monday--just transfered sleeping kids from car to bed--so the tooth was forgotten again. And now it's been under her pillow for two nights with no luck. Who knows-maybe the third night will be the magic night!

Pinewood Derby

Brendon won his pinewood derby a couple of weeks ago. Phil and Brendon spent many an hour planning, shopping, and building this car. Brendon's a Jimmy Johnson fan, so of course he wanted the car to match Jimmy's car colors.
It was so fun to see Brendon's excitement during the race. And Suzanna and Jonathan were just as thrilled every time Brendon's car won--they were great cheerleaders.
I wish I could have captured his excitement at the actual race, but the church lighting never works for my camera. Luckily he was still on cloud nine when we got home and we got some pictures then.

Snow Trip

On President's day we headed up to Mount Graham with Phil's sister Lisa and her family so that my kids could play in the snow for the very first time (I know, they are so deprived). We had such a great time! The weather was warming up, so the kids shed their hats and gloves soon after getting there and played without being too cold. And while we were there, two of my cousins--Cheryl and Carol Anne--randomly came up with their friends and family to play in the same spot. It was fun to see them and they were so nice and shared their sleds and tubes with us so we could have even more fun. We can't wait to go again next year!
