Super Saturday

Saturday was our ward's annual "Super Saturday" craft event, and definitely turned out super.

Super because I actually got up in time to exercise, make crescent rolls to take and feed my family some fabulous egg and bacon biscuits before heading to the church--only a little late =)

Super because I had a great time watching Hillari and Keith demonstrate some fun and delicious chocolate making.

Super because Amy taught us some fun bow making (Anna thanks you Amy!). Here's my favorite:
Super because I've already finished the other projects I brought home that I didn't have time to finish there (which shall remain pictureless since they'll be Christmas gifts for my kids who love to read our blog) instead of just letting them sit in the closet like those I didn't finish 3 years ago.

And especially SUPER because I came home happy and refreshed from my day to happy children and husband and a CLEAN kitchen (even though I had left it a disastrous mess after my roll and breakfast making). So mostly it was a wonderful day because my awesome husband took care of the house and kids so I could go off and play. Thanks Phil!

Things I learn while folding laundry...

Folding laundry might not seem very interesting...until you try doing it with kids. Here's what I learned folding just one (overflowing) basket:

1. Wii batteries never last. They run out just when I want Jonathan to be entertained for a moment. And of course we're all out of batteries. Well, only the size we need. I have like a year supply of D, C, AAA and 9 volt batteries at the moment. Wishing I had that Wii remote charger now.

2. Jonathan does not want to just "talk" with me. That's boring.

3. Jonathan doesn't know how to count all the way to 20. Fifteen, sixteen, and seventeen don't all have to be included, right? As long as you get at least one in there, you're good. Hmm...

4. Naps never last either.

5. Jonathan would much rather teach now awake Tyler to count than practice his own counting.

6. Tyler would much rather throw clothes at me to fold than have Jonathan teach him to count. 10 points if the clothes hit mommy's head! 20 if you can hit her eyes and temporarily blind her!!

7. Suzanna's teacher is a Democrat. At least that's what I'm guessing since she has taught her class that Democrats are the "fair" party. For instance, her teacher says if a Democrat came to her classroom, the Democrat would give each child a sucker, so that everyone has one. When I ask her what about the Republicans, she doesn't really know. Hmm...I think it more likely that if a Democrat came to her classroom, the democrat would try and take an increasingly larger piece of each child's hard earned sucker to give to those kids who don't work for their own suckers. I try to explain that Republicans are fair and want kids to have suckers, too, but my opinion doesn't resonate as well as her teachers. Too political for you? Sorry, all in a days laundry folding around here.

And we're done.

Target Pictures

Fall Break was the perfect time to get all my kids together and get their yearly pictures done.

I love Target Studio--and this was our best photo shoot yet. The photographer was quick and friendly, and my kids behaved beautifully! We were out of there with pictures chosen in less than an hour. And my favorite part is that they have what they call "Smilestation" where I can download all my photos and share them! Did I mention I love Target?

Loving the Weather!

I have to admit that I am absolutely loving the weather these last couple of weeks. We've had a couple of cool days where my kids are pulling out their jackets (they all LOVE jackets--since we hardly ever get to use them), and spending the day playing outside.

And then the weather warms up again and we can picnic at a splash park.

If only we could have perfect weather like this all year...and vacation weeks like Fall Break to help us enjoy it!
