Cake Decorating

In November I was asked to teach cake decorating class at Super Saturday. As with all things lately, I over planned and had a LOT of extra cakes and frosting. My kids were pretty excited to be let loose with it all and came up with some interesting creations. I tried not to gross out!!

Piano Recital

So I finally held a piano recital with my THREE whole piano students last December (cause you know, December needs a few more activities!!). They all did fabulous, and our recital was fun, short and sweet. Sweet as in dessert since we finished the night with some absolutely delicious caramel pecan brownies!!

Crazy Winter Storm

We expect this in the summer...but not December! Both Phil and I were woken up late at night by the huge crashing sounds of the storm outside and watched out our windows as it raged. Crazy! We were glad it only took out half of one of our trees. Both of our neighbor's backyard trees were completely taken out. And although the wind lifted the trampoline off the ground and the legs fell out, it was an easy fix.

I guess it's just going to be a weird, wet winter.

Thanksgiving 2009

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner at my Uncle Dale and Aunt Suzanne's home. We ate outside in their gorgeous backyard with beautiful fall weather, had delicious food and great company. So why do I only have pictures of my kids and Riley (my cousin's daughter) playing with the worms they found?

At least they're cute pictures!

Halloween 2009

We had an Incredible, a pirate, Hermione Granger, and an army man in our family this year.

Hermione met up with Ginny Weasley at the ward party, but we missed getting a picture with one of the many Harry Potters there =)

I painted Brendon's face at our fabulous YW Face Painting booth.

And Suzanna had fun with her friends Megan, aka Hannah Montana, and Morgan, the Halloween bride.

And that's all my camera captured!! The kids had a lot of fun going around to the booths all by themselves since mom and dad were both busy manning our own booths, and then we all enjoyed the trunk-or-treating as usual. I'm sad I missed getting the traditional picture of our carved pumpkin, and I've already forgotten what we carved =)

More Crazy Hair

Spirit week came early at the junior high.

As usual, I only remembered to snap a picture on crazy hair day--our personal favorite around here, though every day the kids don't have to wear their uniforms is a good day at our house.

I thought Brendon's hair came out pretty fun and easy this time.

Junior High Band Concerts

are SO much better!!

Brendon had two of them during his first semester, and we loved them ever so much more than those elementary school disasters. Even when there were so many people there that we had to stand in the back of the room. And especially when they were over in less than a half hour since his JH has an entire concert just for the sixth grade and no one else!!

Brendon was pretty happy that his friend Jacob joined band with him this year. We're so glad Brendon loves playing his trumpet and have loved seeing how much he's improved with mandatory practicing.

My Birthday

For my birthday (way, way back in September), the

kids decorated an awesome cake in about 2 minutes.

We were kind of in a hurry to get to our Diamondbacks game.
But we shouldn't have hurried....

The older kids had fun, but the game was less than exciting (just like the entire season last year), especially with a grouchy three-year-old.

Don't let this picture fool you. He was NOT having a good time. No matter what I tried to distract him with.

So we left early and had a way better time with take-out pizza, cake and ice cream at home.

Yes, yes, I know. We are the most exciting family in the world!!
