Blessings

So many lately...

First, Phil found a new job! He will start as an assistant city engineer in Kingman, AZ next month. We've been praying for good employment for a while now as his former job was winding down, and while having to move was not the answer we expected, we're feeling pretty blessed that he will have a great job.

Second, and almost as important, Phil fixed the dishwasher!! Life is good again =)

NJHS Induction

Last night Brendon was inducted into National Junior Honor Society. They had a short and sweet ceremony with great refreshments, so everyone was happy!! Way to go Brendon!!

Pioneer movie

In preparation for their mother/daughter night tonight, the achievement day girls made a pioneer movie. I wasn't going to do anything to help Anna dress up (too busy to focus on it, I guess), but after my visiting teachers came (one of them is her leader), I got an idea for a quick apron. I was pretty proud of my creation--that I used an old shirt of Phil's and that it only took an hour or so. And Suzanna was thrilled!! She turned out to be a pretty cute pioneer!!

Pretend fun

Since our dishwasher's broken, we invented a new game around our house: doing the dishes by hand!!
But don't let these smiles fool you, even calling it a game isn't really working =)

Easter

If it wasn't for clearance at Walmart, our Easter might have been a complete bust =)

I wasn't in the mood for Easter this year--I mean all the fun, but totally commercial part of Easter. We did all of our normal Christ-centered traditions and enjoyed those. But my kids were totally jipped out of the fun--no egg dying, no baskets Easter morning, not even a fun dessert. We did a very short egg hunt and called it good.

But I couldn't resist this bunny hut on clearance for $1...I'm a sucker for clearance. Getting a good deal made up for the total mess it created!!

Hopefully soon I'll turn into a fun mom again....

Easter Egg Hunt/Encanto Park

The kindergarten classes have a fun tradition of going to Encanto Park each year for an Easter Egg Hunt and then fun at the amusement park. Ty and I tagged along for the fun.

Jonathan's class eagerly awaiting the hunt

Jonathan finding one of his eggs (moms volunteer to fill eggs with each child's name on them)
the dragon coaster!

Ty on the bumper boats. Poor Jonathan was too tall for this ride.
We all had such a great time. A couple of my friends and I stayed with our boys after the rest of the school left, and then we had even more fun since the rides were nearly empty. The boys were in heaven!!

Another Field Trip...

Ty and I joined Anna and her friends on their Botanical Gardens field trip.

Morgan, Megan, Suzanna and Lauren

one of the many amazing butterflies

It was a pretty hot day, and all the guides did was walk the kids to different shaded areas and made them sit and listen. Boring--they might as well have been in the classroom watching a movie!
But seeing the butterfly exhibit was totally worth the trip. We were only in the enclosed butterfly garden for a few minutes, but there were tons and tons of beautiful butterflies. Ty was a bit scared of all the flying things =), but Anna and I loved it!!
